Missed Last Week

Sorry I missed posting last week, but I was in Oklahoma helping my sister.  As many of you know my sister has been fighting Inflammatory Breast Cancer for 7 years.  She had a major surgery last Spring and she had to have another smaller surgery last week to repair a problem from the original surgery.  She is doing great and always an inspiration to me.  Here is my sister Nanette with her husband of 31 years, Dan.

While I was there Mr. MySpareTime and I slipped away and meet up with my nieces, Aubrie and Afton.

These two girls are the daughters that we never had and we are so proud of  them.  Both of these wonderful young women have such dangerous jobs, Aubrie is a police officer and Afton is a para-medic.  Along with being great public servants they are great shoppers!

They introduced me to a wonderful shop in Jenks, Oklahoma, River City Trading Post.  It is full of wonderful treasures and great finds.

Next week I will post some pictures of the wonderful things we found there.

Have a safe and relaxed Memorial Day Weekend
and talk to you on Tuesday.

Boy, I'm Pooped!

Today was moving day for my oldest son, Trey.  He is getting ready to graduate from Sam Houston State University this summer, so today we had to move him out of his apartment.

This is the soon to be graduate!

I have to give it to him, he has finally gotten this moving thing down to a science.  My husband, Mr. MySpareTime, my youngest son, Graham, his girl friend, Ashley and Brent, my son's best friend from first grade, were all there.  The heat was over 90 degrees and the humidity was in the 90% range.  We got the whole apartment packed and cleaned in just a little over 2 hours.

So, you can imagine how much crafting I got done today, ZERO!  I am pooped and dirty and ready for a quick bath, pj's and some down time.  Tomorrow I plan on getting that toy chest finished and several other things that are waiting on the work table.

Next week I am heading to Tulsa, Oklahoma to stay with my little sister while she recuperates from surgery.
She constantly amazes me in her journey through Inflammatory Breast Cancer, so I fully expect she will be up and around in a few days time.  She is the person to blame for all these craft businesses, she convinced me to be her partner in a craft booth back in 1993 and the rest is history.  She has always had a great eye for what was going to be popular and I really trust her judgment in crafts, not so much in movies, but in crafts she knows what she is talking about. I plan on taking several projects with me, but who knows how far those will get.

I think I have posted this picture before, but another look at the hair was worth it!

I will show you how far I got on the latest project on Tuesday.  Have a great weekend and talk to you then.

I Finished It!

Take a look at the finished product,
I love the way it turned out!

Here is a little closer look.
I can just see this in an entry way or living room.
What an unusual piece for just the right customer.
I just love doing OOAK pieces!

We were very busy this weekend and got 7 pieces finished and got a OOAK toy chest,  4 more door panels, a small sign and 8 primitive crosses almost finished.  I should have them completed by the weekend. Here are a few pieces that are completed.

A few of my Snowfolks!

Almost all of my door panels are up-cycled from Habitat for Humanity.  Everyone of them except the X-Large Santa panel, he comes from a friends remodel, recognize it Glenda?  He is over 4 feet tall and comes with a Primitive cordless candle in his greenery.  He would look fantastic over a fireplace or in a wall niche' or entry way.

Thanks for looking and you will be able to see all my pieces at the October 9th Northampton Spirit of the Holidays Marketplace, The Judy Dierker Craft Classic - October 16th or the Champion Forest Baptist Church craft show - November 5th & 6th.

I just wanted to take a minute to celebrate my second son's birthday!  He turns 23 today and we love him very much.  He walks to the beat of his own drum and is so much like his father it is scary!

Happy Birthday, Drew!  We love you.

Talk to you all on Friday,

Goodwill Finds!

This week I went to Goodwill to see if they had anything I could paint on.  Well I didn't find any painting surfaces, but I did find a bunch of things to use for parts.

This batch of stuff will most likely be pulled apart and used on all kinds of things.  I know the red berry wreath looks kind of sad, but for $1.99 I can cut it up it will be just what some Santa needs to brighten up a wreath. The harvest swags will end up in my house, I know they are from Hobby Lobby and check it out, they still have the price labels $6.99, but I got them for $1.99 each. And the cute little wooden bucket was once a nut bowl.  It had the nut picking tool holder still in the middle, but I just unscrewed it.  This will look so vintage at Christmas with a rosemary tree or poinsettia plant in it.

My whole purchase was under $8.00.
Gotta Love Goodwill!

Finding Your MoJo

Someone on PrimMart.com was talking about how they had lost their MoJo and how she need to get Mo and Jo back together again.  I know exactly how she feels.  This year has been crazy with so many new projects, and I have found it hard to do anything except come up with new ideas for things to do.

Mr. MySpareTime says I need to turn off that creative channel in my head and just concentrate on the work at hand.  I am very good at staying on task when I know I have to do something, but lately I have had so many projects pulling me in so many different directions that it is hard to stay focused on just that task.

I have started selling printables on my website www.PrintMePrim.com.  Here is a sample for this month's FREE downloadable address labels. Stop on by and snag this cutie for yourself.

Then I opened an Etsy Shop and Zibbet Shop for selling Kraft Paper Supplies.  That has taken a while to set up my shops and thankfully I have already started making sales.  I am listed as KraftyGirl on Zibbet and KraftyGirldotcom on Etsy.  These shops are just part of my website www.KraftOutlet.com.

Then I spent all day Saturday and Sunday working on OOAK pieces for the craft shows. I don't have them fully completed, but I did get 13 projects cut, sanded and painted.   So my hope is to get all 13 finished and in the game room(storage) by the end of Sunday evening.  I will let you know if I meet that deadline.

Here is a quick peek at what I am currently painting.  I found this old carved spoon at Goodwill for .49cents and then another 30% off that day for a grand total of .34cents.  I thought the old guy looked like a primitive Santa.  I am going to paint something on the bowl of the spoon when I get a chance to finish him.

Thanks for looking and talk to you on Friday!

Somebody Stop Him, Please!

I finally got Mr. MySpareTime trained to look for paintable items and now he is a mad man.  He travels on his job and while he is in different towns he stops in at the neighborhood Goodwill and Habitat for Humanity.  He found these two pieced on his last trip to Austin.

This great cabinet is about 18" wide by 24" tall.  I think this will make a great Halloween piece.  Don't know exactly what I will do, but it will come to me, and the best thing about it was the price!

That's right. $4.99!!! What a bargain.

Then he found this baby, and knew I would love it.
I have a vintage baby sled that I use at Christmas.
This was just too good to pass up.

What a Score!

It is in perfect condition and even has the handle.  I just know this will fly out of my booth at my upcoming craft shows.  I will paint on it and someone will love it just as much as I do.
Who would have thought he would find a sled in South Texas!

We need to stop collecting stuff, I will be painting in my sleep if we don't stop.
It is rather addicting, the thrill of the hunt, the finding a diamond in the rough and  the price negotiation.  Nothing feels better than getting a steal! ChaChing!!
Like eBay says "Shop Victoriously"!

I have big plans to get a lot of work done this three day weekend, so talk to you on Tuesday for an update.

Take A Look!

Well I said I would post on Tuesdays and Fridays and here it is Wednesday and I am just now getting this posted. Not a very good start, but it is what it is.

My husband worked very hard over the weekend to get many, many things ready for me to work on.  His goal is to get everything mended, sanded and base coated so that I have plenty to work on.  I think he did a fantastic job, but with all this finished it makes me feel like I am a slacker. Boy do I have my work cut out for me!

I told you I wanted to get the mirror frame ready and here it is.  It looks great and I know it will look even better when I get through with it.  I hope to finish it this coming weekend.

As for the weekend Garage sale, it was a dud! I did pick up this great old high chair, so the day was not wasted.

Now all I really need to find will be newel posts.  John, Mr. MySpareTime, left on a business trip today for the Hill Country and I have him on a quest for the missing newel posts.  I need them for angels, so let's hope he finds them.

Talk to you on Friday!(I promise)
